The cream and mousse blushes seem to be more flattering in the summer when I’m not wearing a lot of makeup. They blend in well with the dewy skin.

The powders all are great for winter, and I usually have a powdery base. The MAC “Melba” color, however, looks better with a tan in the summer.

It still works in the winter with certain outfits/makeup looks though. Pink usually works better for me in the winter.

The shimmer in the Bourjois and the Maybelline blushes look very dazzling and flattering in sunlight. But if overly applied, it would look “overdone” and too sparkly rather than lightly shimmery.

Blush makes all the difference. Pink, and some peachy colors, are for me! What’s your blush color?

How to:

1) Apply one (thin) coat of mascara

2) Sweep a purple-based mid-tone over the lid and just a bit above the crease.

3) Apply a darker purple-based shade at the inner and outer corners of your lid.

4) Accentuate the outer corner and crease even more with a deeper purple and blend well

5) Dab a shimmery light purple shade onto the ball of your eyelid for “volume”

6) Line the upper lashline with black pen eyeliner, pulling it to a slight flick

7) Line bottom lashes with dark purple shadow and blend

8) Apply a thick coat of mascara and comb/separate after dry

9) Set eyeliner with black shadow

( By the way, I’m sorry the lighting is depressing in these photos! I’ll find better light next time. It makes my skin look pale and brings out my silly freckles. :P)

This look would be great for a date, night out with friends, or a party.

Warm n’ Cozy Fall Look

This look is all about being natural and radiating warmth.

IMG_0423

To get the look I primed my eyelids with Lili Rouge “Stick to It” primer, and then applied Urban Decay‘s “Shag” eyeshadow all over the lid, not rising above the crease.

I smoothed a thin layer of Garnier’s BB Cream over my face, and then Yves Rocher corrector/concealer under my eyes and around my nose. I set it all with a light dusting of Maybelline pressed powder.

I applied Milani’s baked bronzer under my cheekbones and blended. I then brushed MAC blush in “Melba” on the apples of my cheeks.

Then I put on L’Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in 802 “Captivating Copper”.

I applied two layers of L’Oreal Voluminous False Lashes mascara, and defined my upper lash line with Urban Decay‘s eyeshadow in “Zero”.

I don’t know about you, but to me, makeup should reflect your feelings. Some people use it to conceal them too! I personally find Autumn a cozy and heart-warming season. I think of apple and pumpkin pies, orange, brown, lace, bright leaves, apple-picking, cute scarves and jackets. So, I like to reflect my emotions in what I wear.

Have a happy fall! Count your blessings! (:

My Mascara Quest…

Eyelashes make a big difference to every makeup look. However you don’t notice it’s there till it’s not there.

For a couple of years, Maybelline’s Volume Express One by One mascara was my favourite. I still like it, but after trying another mascara and seeing a huge difference, I decided it was time to explore for a new one.

I wanted a mascara that defines, lengthens, and gives a lot of volume. The one I was using mostly defined, but didn’t give a lot of the other two. I researched and experimented a bit. I ended up with four (affordable) favourites….

*(When I say ‘definition’ I mean lash separation.)

1) Covergirl’s LashBlastvolume mascara.

Rate:

Definition: 9/10

Volume: 6.5/10

Lengthening: 7/10

2) L’Oreal Paris Voluminous False Lashes.

Rate:

Volume: 9.5/10 (Quite clumpy however)

Lengthening: 8/10

This last one, Great Lash, I actually don’t like because of volume, length, or definition, but it is 100% waterproof. It’s even hard to take off without oil! It’s my #1 trusted summer product.

Many of these mascaras work best when mixed! (As in one coat of Illegal Length, and a second coat of Voluminous False Lashes.)

Eyes are probably the most important feature of your face. Give ’em all you can! Make them stand out!
